Product description

Victron battery charger Skylla-i for 24V batteries

A full-power output and a 4A auxiliary charging output are available. The charging voltage can be precisely adjusted to suit any battery system.
The charger's input voltage is 230 V at 50/60 Hz. The charging voltage can be measured directly at the battery terminals to compensate for voltage losses due to cable resistance. An external sensor allows you to measure the battery temperature and compensate the charging voltage accordingly.

Less maintenance and aging when the battery is idle: storage mode
Storage mode is activated whenever no discharge has occurred within 24 hours. In storage mode, the float charge voltage is then reduced to 2.2 V/cell (26.4 V for a 24 V battery) to minimize gassing and corrosion on the positive plates.
Once a week, the voltage is increased back to the constant voltage threshold to "refresh" the battery. This creates a kind of equalizing charge that prevents electrolyte stratification and sulfation—the two main causes of premature battery failure.

Robust
The epoxy powder-coated aluminum housings with drip protection and stainless steel mounting brackets withstand even the harshest environmental conditions: heat, humidity, and salty air. An acrylic coating provides the best possible protection against corrosion for the circuit boards.
Temperature sensors ensure that the power components always operate within the specified limits. Under extreme environmental conditions, the output current is automatically reduced if necessary.

Prevent damage from excessive gas development: Battery saver mode
To shorten the charging time, the highest possible charging current combined with a high constant voltage is desired. However, to avoid excessive gassing towards the end of the constant current phase, the Skylla-i limits the rate of voltage rise after the gassing voltage is reached.

Suitable for lithium-ion batteries (LiFePo4)
A simple on/off control can be implemented by connecting a relay or open collector optocoupler output from a Li-Ion BMS to the charger's remote control port.
Alternatively, voltage and current can be fully controlled by connecting to the galvanically isolated CAN bus port.

Two outputs for charging two batteries
The chargers have two isolated outputs. The second output is designed for charging a starter battery. It has a slightly lower output voltage and is limited to 4 A.

Battery voltage sensor
To compensate for voltage losses caused by cable resistance, the Skylla-i has a voltage sensor in the charging circuit so that the battery always receives the correct charging current.
