Victron Centaur Charger for 12 V batteries

The new Centaur battery charger range from Victron Energy is designed for worldwide use.
Compliance with general requirements and input/output specifications are the key features of this new product line, designed by the renowned Dutch manufacturer. It is designed to meet both CE marking requirements for Europe and UL marking for the United States.
The Centaur series automatically accepts an input range of 90 to 265 VAC 50/60 Hz, meaning the devices can be used worldwide.

Unlike other devices that have a universal input power, the Centaur series maintains full output power within the specified range.
The Centaur model also operates with an input power of 90-400 VDC. This makes it a DC-to-DC charging converter perfectly suited for an electronic diesel system. Among other features, the model features a fully automatic three-stage charging characteristic that ensures the batteries are fully charged every time, as well as three separate charging outputs for multi-battery setups, making it suitable for most typical installations.

Durable device, quality without compromise
Aluminum housings with epoxy powder coating, drip protection against condensation and stainless steel mounting parts withstand the toughest conditions such as heat, humidity and salty atmospheres.
The circuit boards are protected against corrosion by an acrylic coating. Temperature sensors ensure that all power components operate within specified limits and, if necessary, the output current is automatically reduced under extreme conditions.

Universal 90 to 265 volt input
All models operate without special settings in a voltage range of 90 V to 265 V at both 50 Hz and 60 Hz. This allows worldwide use, regardless of the voltage and frequency range of the local grid.

Three-stage charging characteristic with temperature compensation
Centaur initially charges with constant current (bulk) until the charging current has dropped to 70% of the nominal value
This is followed by a fixed four-hour constant voltage phase, followed by a maintenance charge phase. The charging voltage is regulated by the internal temperature sensor (-2 mV/°C per cell).
With a tip switch, the optimal charging voltage values ​​can be set for the respective battery types (e.g. wet lead battery, gel battery or AGM battery).
