Victron EM24 Ethernet electricity meter

The energy meter can be used as:

• Network meter
• Control input for an ESS system
• Measuring the performance of a PV inverter
• Measuring the power of an AC generator

For all of the above uses, the meter should be connected to the local network so that the GX device can reach it.

GX configuration

Unlike the RS485 model, the Ethernet EM24 is not automatically configured. Before use, the electrical system configuration (three-phase or single-phase) must be configured on the meter itself. Refer to the EM24 manual for details.

In most networks, the meter is automatically configured via DHCP when plugged in. For larger installations, we recommend configuring a static IP address. This prevents the address from changing if the DHCP server assigns a different IP address in the future.

The configuration for Ethernet EM24 meters can be found under Settings → Modbus TCP Devices. By default, the system scans for new devices every ten minutes, but a manual scan is also possible.
